(Forest of mini trees in Unreal Engine)
The process of creating tree assets is tedious and takes a lot of time from artist pipelines. To solve this problem I created a tool for Maya that generates trees using randomized fractal algorithms.
This tool generates low-poly and stylized trees. The existing tree tools are mostly directed towards the more realistic and complex trees, however this tool can be used to generate low-poly trees that can be used in a mobile game, for example.
I used 3D calculus and trigonometry to position the branches of the tree in 3D space and I spent most of the time in this project tweaking math functions in order to achieve the perfect result.
